Coasters with Lace and Ribbons. An Ethnic and Colorful Touch for Summer

What would summer vacations be without snacks with friends? Or sunsets enjoying a cold drink and watching the sunset, listening to our favorite music, or reading the book or magazine we’ve been longing for.

In this idyllic scenario, what better than some coasters to add a touch of color to your table? Moreover, coasters weren’t invented without reason. The glass of cold drinks often drips condensation, and tables end up wet and stained.

Discover how to make these summery coasters!

Materials you need for the coasters:

  • Manubens P.200 cord in color 3 beige.
  • Manubens P.117 Yarn in various colors.
  • Scissors
  • Thread of the same color as the cord.
  • Sewing machine.

How to make the coasters step by step:

  1. Cut pieces of ribbons 4 or 5 cm long.

We have used hiladillo in different colors, but you can recycle leftover ribbon pieces from other crafts. You just have to find the composition you like the most: all plain, with some pattern to add a splash of color—any combination will look super cool and summery.

2. Tie a knot at the end of the cord and make a couple of turns wrapping it.

3. Start sewing the machine in a zigzag pattern to sew the cord as it wraps. In the following image, you can see the point enlarged.

4. Place the ribbon pieces on the cord while sewing.

5. When you reach a diameter of 10 cm, cut and finish the cord.

And there you have it, your coasters are ready to add a touch of color to your summer snacks!

How did you find this craft? Easy and fantastic for using up leftover ribbon pieces you have at home, right? Moreover, they can be an ideal gift for any occasion.
