. Did you know that the widths of woven fabric ribbons have tolerances accepted by the market? The widths of the ribbons we manufacture range from 3 millimeters to 100 millimeters. These are widths that may differ from the nominal width announced in the sample, as fabric ribbons undergo shrinkage during the dyeing process. The reduction in the size of fabric ribbons during the dyeing process is due to the high temperatures to which the ribbon is subjected, influencing the shrinkage. In this way, the wider the ribbon, the greater the shrinkage it will undergo during dyeing, as a wider ribbon experiences more shrinkage. In addition to width, the material and the structure of the ribbon itself will also influence it. FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE SHRINKAGE IN WIDTHS The semi-finished product that comes out of the looms must have a greater width than it will have once finished. Thus, a 25-millimeter satin ribbon is woven to 27 millimeters because during dyeing, it will shrink by about 2 millimeters. Shrinkage is influenced by numerous factors that make the width of the fabric ribbon to be dyed greater than the resulting width once dyeing is completed. Even though the same dyeing process is carried out, shrinkage is not always the same, which is why there are certain known tolerances that are always respected in the dyeing process of our fabric ribbons. These accepted tolerances range from +/- 0.5 millimeters in narrow widths to +/- 5 millimeters in wider ribbon THE WIDTH OF THE FABRIC RIBBON: A QUALITY FACTOR Ensuring the width, within the tolerances accepted by the market, is a quality factor appreciated by all our customers. It is a matter of appreciating each factor that makes fabric ribbons different in its right measure, so that their width also positively influences that image. Very narrow ribbons, very wide ribbons, all of them are a different way of making ourselves known, and in all widths, there is a splendid variety of styles and ribbons that all haberdasheries and customers will want to have in their possession. One of the keys to the success of the fabric ribbons we manufacture at Manubens is this: the widths that can be achieved because it is important to provide service to all the needs of our customers.
