DIY to create ornaments for the Christmas tree step by step
Christmas is just around the corner, and we are already thinking about how to decorate the house this year. Tired of colorful balls and tinsel? You probably want to renew the traditional Christmas decorations with more modern ones. As you enjoy crafts, you’ve been looking for ideas to make handmade Christmas ornaments that reflect your personality.
The Christmas ornaments we propose today are super easy to make and can also be an activity to spend an entertaining afternoon with slightly older children. We know it’s not easy to find crafts for kids, so we thought these Christmas ornaments would be suitable for the little ones in the house, so the whole family can collaborate in renewing the Christmas decorations.
What do we explain in this article?

Do you want to make these Christmas ornaments with materials you already have? The idea is to be able to use all the leftover ribbons from other crafts. If you don’t have enough, we propose these colors of Manubens ribbons with the most festive colors.
- Manubens Velvet Ribbon P.950 width 16mm.
- Color 063 bottle green
- Color 087 gold
- Color 046 bull’s blood
- Color 008 light gray
- Manubens Vichy Ribbon P.4600 width 5mm.
- Color 060 green
- Color 602 bone
- Color 046 bull’s blood
- Color 008 light gray
- Christmas-themed cookie molds.
- Thread, needle, and scissors.
- Hot glue gun.

Cut a sufficient amount of ribbon for the size of the mold. Put a drop of hot glue on the outside and glue one end of the ribbon. This point will require adult supervision to prevent children from burning themselves with the tip of the glue gun.

Start winding the ribbon around the mold, making sure it is tight, and finish the final end with another drop of glue.
3. How to hang handmade Christmas ornaments

Now that the molds are covered, it’s time to make the hanging ribbons. For this, we will use pieces of Vichy ribbon that will add a fun touch to the Christmas ornaments. Cut a piece of Vichy ribbon in a color that matches the velvet lining, make a knot with the ends, and sew the ribbon onto the velvet.
If children are participating in this craft, they can also join the two ends with a bow or glue them with another drop of glue.

And the craft is already finished! Aren’t these Christmas ornaments super easy to make to entertain the kids for a whole afternoon?
We used velvet ribbon to cover the molds and Vichy ribbon for the hanging ribbons. But this is already up to you—or the kids—so they can create their Christmas ornaments however they like!
You can also choose only two Christmas colors, for example, red and green. Or just one color, which is also a trend.
If you choose only one color, we recommend one that stands out on the green if you want to hang the ornaments on the Christmas tree. You can cover the ornaments by combining shades within the same range, such as gold or red combined with bone and white or the range of grays and whites. Discover the thousand combinations you can make with the 44 colors of Manubens velvet ribbon!
Can you imagine these velvet cookie molds hanging on the Christmas tree in combination with Vichy ribbon balls? Last year we showed how to renew Christmas balls by covering them with this fabric ribbon. It’s a fantastic craft to give a new look to the tree ornaments. And if you still don’t have any or half of the balls have broken, create them from scratch by buying styrofoam balls for crafts and get to work!
