How to make the bows, step by step

For these hairpins, we will use the velvet ribbons.

Heat the hot glue gun. If you don’t have one yet, buy one at any hardware store. They are inexpensive and will serve you not only for crafts but also for many quick home repairs.

Using a hot glue gun is very simple. Just insert the bar as shown in the image and plug it in. In a few minutes, it will be ready to use, and you can start creating your handmade bows. Be careful not to burn yourself with the tip or the freshly applied glue!

While the glue is heating, measure a sufficient piece of ribbon to cover the hairpins on the outside and inside.

Apply glue on both sides and stick the ribbon before the glue cools, starting from the inside. Use the awl to make it fit well in hard-to-reach areas (thus avoiding burns).

Guide for creating the bows

We will make the ponytails with taffeta ribbon. With its texture and fall, they will result in perfect little bows.

Cut a palm-length (about 20 cm) piece of 16mm ribbon to make the bow.

Fold the ribbon to make the first loop and apply a drop of glue inside, as you can see in the image.

Now, fold the other end of the velvet ribbon to make the second loop and apply another drop of glue.

With the narrow ribbon of the same color, tie the bow to the ponytail.

Finish it with a knot to secure it well.

And there you have it, your first fabric hair bow is finished!

We are confident that these ribbons will be well-received at home. You can even try making smaller bows for doll hair, or even for babies!
